I Can Do It By Myself — at Hamilton Montessori School, parents are invited to come and experience the Montessori difference firsthand. The Montessori School of Hamilton is a well-established (2001) Montessori preschool program offering an authentic Montessori education to Hamilton Township, NJ, and surrounding communities, including Robbinsville, Bordentown, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Columbus, East Windsor, West Windsor, Lawrenceville, and Trenton. We would love to meet with you and your family — come take a tour! Our open houses and parent information nights are for families interested in the programs our school offers. We hold several of these nights each year, by appointment only, usually on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. An experienced Montessori teacher will guide you through the principles and methods behind Montessori. Discover the secret of childhood for new and familiarized parents. Toy Drive and The Giving Tree
We would like to thank all of our parents and families for your continuous support and countless good deeds. We are extremely grateful for all of your contributions toward our food and toy drives during the holiday season. Toy Drive: all donated toys from our drive go to Homefront of Trenton, an organization serving needy families and children in the surrounding Hamilton and Trenton areas. This month we have been holding our annual toy drive, and the pre-primary toddler room has decorated our gift boxes as a class project to hold all of our donations. It is not too late to contribute to this very important, worthwhile drive. All of the proceeds, gifts and toys will directly impact a child and their family in a most special way. Please remember this event while you are doing your last-minute shopping, and take your child shopping to let him or her pick out supplies or a toy to give to a needy young child in our area. The box will stay in the foyer until it is time to be delivered. The Giving Tree: another special program which we are proud to support this year will support six local families in need. The families are in a very difficult financial situation. Please join us in helping them. Tags on the tree in our foyer show what each family needs for their child. Holiday Party Reminder and Classroom Celebrations
This is a friendly reminder of your child’s class holiday party on Thursday, December 22nd. Please check your child’s monthly calendar for your child’s specific party time. We hope and look forward to meeting with all of our parents, families and friends. Please plan to be a part of this holiday feast. We encourage everyone to come and join in on the fun. Our many multicultural and ethnic families bring wonderful cuisine, and the best part of the celebration is trying all of the different sweet and savory delights that come with our many traditions and cultures. What better way to acquaint ourselves with our children’s friends and their families? If you have a special recipe, story, song, or craft relating to the holiday, please share it with all of us. In class, we have been focusing on the spiritual celebrations that occur during December. Each of these celebrations involves light and the giving of gifts. The activities we have been working on have helped increase understanding of holiday events, vocabulary, and appreciation for these unique traditions and celebrations. We have been learning about: Hanukkah — December 24th. The eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights begins December 24th. Christmas — December 25th. The Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is December 25th. Kwanzaa — December 26th. The seven-day celebration of African Culture begins December 26th. We will also talk about sharing and generosity — being generous. Peace will also be a focus this month; please follow your child’s calendar for all of our upcoming events and activities. All classes will be making surprises, so please do not ask your child any questions about this activity. We need your traditional holiday platters and desserts. Anyone who would like to share something with our class for the holiday party can do so on December 22nd. Please sign up on your child’s classroom community board and indicate whether you are bringing a sweet or savory dish. We cannot wait to celebrate and share our diversity together at our great Holiday Feast Event! Winter break starts December 23rd. School and Extended Care are closed December 26th. Extended Care ONLY will be open December 27th through December 30th. School and Extended Care will reopen on Monday, January 2nd. We wish everyone Happy Holidays and a blessed New Year!
