Our Six Essential Pillars
The Montessori School of Hamilton’s core values rest on six essential pillars. We bring these values together in synchrony throughout our school community and in day-to-day interactions with the children and families we serve. From earliest learning through kindergarten, these pillars shape the way we guide each child toward discovery, confidence, and respect for others.

A Partnership Between Parents
Children grow best when parents and teachers work as partners. Through our Continuity of Learning program, we help parents find the power to guide and influence their children with a positive, nurturing approach. Parent Workshops and education classes throughout the year bridge the gap between school and home—and between home and school—so families and educators work together toward the optimal growth and development of every child within the Montessori method.
Teacher and Child
Teachers and children share a harmonious environment rooted in the effective application of Montessori principles. Our teachers hold profound respect for the value of the human spirit, seeing each child as a unique individual with an innate desire for knowledge and growth. In a carefully designed, thoughtfully prepared environment created for the whole child, children are free to learn naturally through spontaneous, self-directed activity. Hands-on, experiential learning makes them active seekers of concrete, tangible answers.

Respect for Each Child's Pace
Children become caring, creative individuals when they discover the joy of learning. We understand that each child develops naturally according to their own abilities and skills, so the Montessori curriculum is personalized to meet every student individually and respectfully. Honoring each child’s pace gives children the time they need to build skills, and that unhurried time fuels self-confidence and self-esteem. The result is an avid learner who loves asking questions and seeking answers.
Character Building Education
“Peaceful child, peaceful world” echoes through the underlying philosophy of our Montessori education. We introduce these peaceful principles to the Hamilton Township community and to every family in our care. Embedded in our curriculum is a character-building education program that gently guides children to become part of a respectful, collaborative, supportive community. Peace and conflict-resolution workshops and lessons are presented to children and parents throughout the year.

A Public Commitment to Authentic Montessori
Our school demonstrates a public commitment to the true preservation and application of Montessori principles, values, and philosophy. Families are brought together by common goals and principles, sharing a vision of education as an aid to life. Based on the Casa De Bambini—“The Children’s House”—originated by Dr. Maria Montessori, our school offers an authentic Montessori nursery, preschool, and kindergarten program. The first of its kind in Hamilton Township, we focus on five principles: respect, independence, responsibility, potential, and critical thinking. These points are woven deeply into every aspect of the curriculum, along with the highest regard for one’s self, for others, and for the earth.
Becoming an Effective School in Our Community
An effective school is one that helps children and parents grow together in love, respect, and harmony. We are dedicated to the highest quality of education from infancy through kindergarten, and we are committed to the values and principles of the Montessori method. Parents are supported through Parent Workshops and encouraged to be active participants in the school and Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Children are given the tools and freedom to question, explore, and discover on their own—building the self-confidence, independence, and success that will lead tomorrow’s children into a brighter future as confident, self-reliant, creative thinkers.
